Get to Know Me
This is my 26th year of teaching and I have started a new journey in my career as the librarian at Rodburn and Clearfield Elementary schools. I have loved working with each of my students. They all have a special place in my heart. I earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree in elementary education from MSU and a second Master's degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Kentucky.
I have lived in Rowan County all of my life. Amazing, huh? I went to Haldeman Elementary, Rowan County Middle and Senior High School. I have always wanted to be a teacher. There is nothing like helping a child learn and watching them grow throughout the year. I want to make a difference for the students that I work with like many of my teachers did for me, especially Mrs. Hardin (my 4th grade teacher) and Mrs. Walke (high school Language Arts).
I have a big family. I am the youngest of seven children (4 boys; 3 girls). We usually see each other on Sundays at Mom's house over homemade biscuits and gravy, but not as much since the Pandemic started. My husband, Tom, and I have been married for 26 years. We have a 21 year old son and a 13 year old daughter. We have a dog named Summer. She is a mixed bred "pound puppy".
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, and doing various crafts.
